Filing deadline to run for an at-large national delegate or alternate seat

June 2 @ 5:00 pm

Who Can Participate

Any registered voter in the state who declares they’re a Democrat. (Register to vote here.) If there are demographic groups that are underrepresented among the 60 national delegates elected at Congressional District caucuses, then members of those groups will be especially encouraged to run as at-large national delegates.

Given the demographics of Democratic voters in Washington State, a delegation that properly represents the state should include at least:

  • Six African-Americans
  • Twelve Hispanics
  • One Native American
  • Nine Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders
  • Eight LGBTQ+ Americans
  • 17 people with disabilities
  • 35 Young Democrats (age 35 or younger)

An individual delegate may be a member of more than one of these demographic groups.

What They Do

Run to be an at-large Democratic National Convention delegate or alternate at the Washington State Democratic Central Committee meeting on June 9, and, if elected, attend the convention in Chicago on August 19-22, 2024.

The 20 candidates who receive the highest vote totals on June 9 will be elected as at-large national delegates, and the candidates who finish 21st through 28th will be elected as at-large national alternates.

How to Participate

Self-nominate by submitting the form at https://www.wademsdelegates.org/register.
