Online election of state convention delegates and alternates (“Legislative District caucus”)

April 6

Who Can Participate

The members of the local Democratic Party organization in each legislative district who will be eligible to vote on April 6 under that organization’s bylaws, and whose information is received by the State Party by April 1, 2024.

If the local Democratic Party organization in your legislative district does not send a membership list to the State Party by April 1, then participation in that LD’s caucus will be limited to the elected and appointed Precinct Committee Officers in that LD.

What They Do

Elect delegates and alternates to your Congressional District caucus and the Washington State Democratic Convention from among the candidates who self-nominated by March 31.

Each LD caucus will elect 20 or 25 delegates, depending on how “blue” the LD is, and will also elect 10 alternates, who may be seated as “bonus” delegates if the LD meets its affirmative action targets. The initial 20-25 delegates elected at each LD caucus will vote on the election of national delegates at the congressional district caucuses.

How to Participate

Sign up to become a voting member of your LD’s Democratic Party organization before it submits its membership list to the State Party, then watch for an announcement of the location and time of your LD’s caucus and information on how to cast your ballot.
